Subject Olympiads

Foto - G.KajonsSchool subject olympiads are very popular. One of the goals is to stimulate enthusiasm and a love for different school subjects.

There are school olympiads on different school subjects. The first stage is school olympiads, the second – district ones, the third – state olympiads. The successful performance of students in school allows them to participate in school subject olympiads. The best students of Latvia participate in state or International subject olympiads.

Brief statistics

School year 2004. /2005.

There were 23405 participants in different subjects olympiads in regions in Latvia. There were 20 state subject olympiads with 1999 participants.

30 pupils participated in 8 international subject olympiads: 15 pupils won the prices  in the International Olympiads in Chemistry, Informatics, Mathematics, Biology, Enviromental projects.

School year 2003. /2004.

There were 18508 participants in different subjects olympiads in regions in Latvia. There were 17 state subject olympiads with 1705 participants.

25 pupils participated in 6 international subject olympiads: pupils participated  in the International Olympiads in Chemistry, Informatics, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Enviromental projects. 16 of them won the prizes.

School year 2002. /2003.

There were 21316 participants in different subjects olympiads in regions in Latvia. There were 17 state subject olympiads with 1705 participants.

18 pupils participated in the international subject olympiads: 4 pupils participated in International Biology olympiad in Byelorussia, 4 – in International Informatics olympiad in USA, 4 – in International Chemistry olympiad in Greece, but 6 in International mathematics olympiad in Japan.

School year 2001. /2002.

There were 20054 participants in different subjects olympiads in regions in Latvia. There were 1842 participants in state olympiads.

32 Latvia’s pupils took part in 8 International Subject olympiads. 24 of them won the prizes. 4 pupils participated in International German olympiad in Romania, 2 – in International Environmental Projects in Turkey, 4 – in International Biology olympiad, 4 – in International Chemistry olympiad, 4 – in International Physics olympiad in Indonesia, 6 – in International Mathematics olympiad in Scotland, 4 – International Geography olympiad in South Africa, 4 – in International Informatics olympiad in Korea.
